Superbowl Sunday – 3+ Year Survivor
Yesterday, January 31st was Karin’s birthday. The 31st is also the anniversary of my confirmed diagnosis -3 years ago! Health-wise I am great. I took Karin out to a fantastic dinner at Noble Fare last night. It is located where Jean Louise was.
My work schedule had been rather busy/crazy for the 1st 3 weeks of January, but it has slowed down a bit. We have been down for a maintenance outage, but some major problems with some of our equipment extended the outage. The packaging business has gotten really lousy soft in the last quarter of ’08 and worse during the 1st quarter ’09. Were we back in production, we would likely have downtime for lack of orders. Hopefully we will get some credit for the time that we have been down when they distribute the lack of order downtime around our business. Startup will again be hectic, but that is almost 2 weeks away. Busy work is much better than no work. Bad days at work are always better than not being here. I have the day off tomorrow. They made us take some vacation. That is better than being off without pay. Many of our hourly workers are laid off for 1-2 weeks.
Take care,
Mark
